It’s Time: A New Movement for Our Generation

Years ago in the middle of the night I woke up with a vision. It was simple and clear and so weighty I thought my bones may cave in. It was this.

Gather and Equip your Generation.

It was rather ridiculous at the time because I was not a published author or friends with famous people. I was a stay at home mom and yet the call was so clear and so heavy. So I pushed it away.

Fast forward many many years and miracles have happened. God opened doors and gave me favor and somehow today I stand with the relationships and resources in place to actually consider that the vision years ago possibly was from God and may just happen. We must take the hand off from our spiritual predecessors and give God to the next generation.

We are hungry and it is our time to take our place. So today we are bravely stepping out.

We live once and then we meet God. We want to live lives that matter for eternal things. We want to be a generation who followed with reckless abandonment a God who was real to us.

So here we go.

Will you be a part? A dream this big is meant to be shared and so now I have many friends sharing it with me:

Lindsey Nobles

Rebekah Lyons

Ann Voskamp

Jen Hatmaker

Melissa Greene

Esther Havens

Lauren Chandler

Angie Smith

Bianca Olthoff

Tara Jenkins

Christine Caine

Shelly Giglio

Debbie Eaton and there is a tribe of 100 more incredible voices behind that. Like dominoes falling, this is growing.

The IF movement will have three distinct parts:

IF: Gathering

This 2-day conference will bring women together and wrestle out how to live out the calling God has placed on our lives. Throw everything you know about “women’s conferences” out the door. This is by us, for us, like us: experiential, story-driven, tribe-building, plumbing the depths. We can hardly wait. // Austin, TX Feb. 7–8 2014

IF: Equip

We are creating a blueprint for intentional equipping – reaching women with tools that are holistic, strategic and deep. By providing easy online access to a like-minded community and relevant resources created by our tribe for our tribe, we will release women around the world to live out their purposes and advance the kingdom. We have an audacious vision to disciple the next generation.

IF: Unleash

We are a generation passionate about disparity and justice; we won’t sit idly by enjoying our advantages while the world suffers. By partnering with organizations like Food for the Hungry, coming specifically alongside women around the world, fostering relationships and utilizing our God-given gifts, we believe this movement not only transforms hearts but leaves a tangible impact on the entire world.

This is too big for us- will you please join us:

If so go put your email in here and prepare to join us February 7-8, 2014 in Austin, Texas.

Much more to come!  And yes team this is finally “the Big Announcement”.

What do you think? Are we so crazy?!  I am terrified!!!

I kind-of think we could change the world together.

  1. As I’ve continued reading through your blog, I am blown away by how quickly this vision was embraced by so many. Although planted in your heart years prior, once God said “now”, it’s hard to fathom the response that has occurred. I’m just thinking of the registration for 2015 that sold out in 15 minutes! When God’s Hand is in something it is bigger and more incredible than we can ever imagine!

Precious friend, I am praying for you. I know that if God called you to it, He will see you through it, but I’m guessing it must seem mind boggling to you too. Certainly there is no doubt that this is all God. I don’t think I can even put into words how I would feel to be involved in something so beyond myself. I think I would find myself in tears…how does one express in words the overwhelming sense that God has invited me to join Him in something so huge…when I feel so small?

Thank you Jennie…for being faithful in the small things…for starting a blog…for writing…for not giving up when publishers dismissed your proposals…for sharing with girls in a sorority house…for being obedient in adopting…for speaking…for being a “domino”…for opening your home to women…for loving your husband and children…for caring for your friends…for praying…for passionately following Jesus and surrendering all.

Praying for you and joining with you, in my corner of the world,
