What IF God moved through us?

August 24, 2015

Last year, we had the opportunity to join together in prayer for our communities and our world. As a result of this, we have seen God on the move through the lives of the women we get to work with and minister to through IF:Gathering. On September 14, we have the chance to gather together again and seek the LORD on our knees because we know that He will be found when we pray. None of what we’re seeing happen takes place without prayer.

Below is a post I wrote last year and it is my hope that it will encourage you to gather with us for IF:Pray 2015. We come with expectant and humble hearts to the God who is bigger than we could ever imagine.

For more information on how you can get involved with IF: Pray on September 14, click here.

Also, check out this short video in which I share the vision for IF:Pray…

On September 23rd,  over 150 years ago Jeremy Lanphier held a prayer gathering in New York. 6 people came. SIX.  Over the coming months, as the world faced new tragedies, his little prayer gathering grew to 10,000 people and birthed the Third Great Awakening. 6 people praying sparked worldwide revival.

On September 23rd, 2014, women stepped out in faith, opened their homes and churches, and gathered in parks and warehouses around the globe. They met to pray. Pray. We prayed for the church, for our own souls, for the world, for our role in meeting needs, we confessed our sin and thanked God for who He is. We prayed.

It wasn’t fancy. It wasn’t much for the world to take notice of and yet I don’t know that I have ever seen anything more beautiful in my life.  As I scrolled the internet the next day,  photos from around the world began to come in.  Women  told stories and posted hundreds and hundreds of photos of their people in their places. Here are just a few.

Aren’t you just dying?! Imagine scrolling through hundreds?

God is moving through YOU and if you gathered 2 or 20 or 200 it was done in faith- God moves through faith. We are believing God for the greatest of things.new-twitter_bird-gray  As I said in Austin, we will not presume revival upon God- we will just believe He could and pray that He will.new-twitter_bird-gray

I don’t know what is next dear friends but I am learning to be ok in that. Do you want to gather your people and pray. Learn how here. And registration for IF:Austin and IF:Local 2015 goes up Tuesday. Join the email list so you don’t miss anything!

What can we pray for you? And if you gathered and prayed this week- will you tell us all about it? I don’t want to miss a thing!

To begin with, finding If:Equip was an answer to prayer! I had been taking many of the Beth Moore bible studies over the last few years and shortly after I had finished Esther, I remembered thinking “God, I so much want to be like Esther for my generation! I remembered praying that I wanted desperately to be one his “Go to Girls” like Esther and like Ruth! I had no idea when I prayed this prayer that a beautiful woman of God named Jennie Allen was seeking the same thing! It was absolutely God directed when I came across the website for If: Gathering and …well, it was as Ann Voskamp likes to say, “I was God struck”! I am so humbled by the way and manner that God has blessed me and answered my prayer with and throgh this wonderful gathering of women, who just like me, want to be used of God for the glory of God! I am not sure just want it will look like or how it will be played out in my life…but then I don’t suppose any of us do and that is where our faith and prayer come in!

Please, if there is one thing I want this comment to have expressed, it is that I am so grateful for the love and faith and prayers of all of my fellow sisters in Christ that I have been able to share in and be blessed by! If:Pray was just incredible !

I am in awe and in tears after reading this. God is so beautiful and it’s amazing to see Him moving through His faithful children.

I just have chills looking at these pictures. Pure and simple it was. We met in Spokane Valley with 30 women over a bonfire and it was amazing to see how God met us there. He works like that…doesn’t He? Always faithful, and the less we try to create “something” the more His presence is felt. Love the purity of this movement.

  4. I still CANNOT get over the hauntingly beautiful sound of whispered prayers. This prayer time is a treasure I won’t soon forget and I can’t wait for what God has in store for Wyoming!
Please pray for us to have strength for the fight. That we always keep unity and love at the forefront of our vision.
    Blessings!

My girlfriend and I gathered and prayed. It wasn’t extravagant and we would have loved a room full to have joined us but we left feeling refreshed and renewed. We couldn’t join the live stream due to schedule but put our families to bed and shut ourselves in one of the rooms in my house and raised the roof in prayer. I believe with all my heart God is moving in our generation and I’m so excited to take a very small part in it. Thanks for being bold and obeying the Lord’s leading.

i’d appreciate prayer for the ability to see my work as an opportunity to participate in the bigger story God is wanting to tell. i am in the midst of a difficult transition at my job, and reframing what i do as not about me would be very helpful emotionally. i believe much of my emotion is an attack after being obedient to lead an IF:Pray group in my home in Cumming, GA, for my neighbors and a few close friends. God said very loudly leading up to and during that time, BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD. i’m needing to rest in that.

    thanks…

  7. Oh those beautiful women in Southeast Asia – Lord, that we might all be so bold in our prayers in the face of what we fear. I feel like I’m sitting on the edge of my seat in anticipation of what God is going to do next!
