"Perseverance" -that word- it has always felt a little like "medicine" or "exercise".... not one of my favorites. I know it is necessary, even beneficial, but certainly not the most fun of activities. As we digress further down the rabbit holes of obedience- the more this word is coming to mind. I am not really complaining. There is not much to complain about. Our lives are exponentially blessed, but I feel the weight of it all. All that God has asked of us, and kind-of like kick-boxing class- I want to sneak out the back door just a little bit early- skip out and get a smoothie instead.
Perseverance- steady persistence in a course of action, a purpose, a state, etc., especially in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement.
Let Us Run With Perseverance The Race That Is Set Before Us... Hebrews 12:1
Running the race today looks like waiting patiently and joyfully, choosing steady rather than dramatic feelings (that I am currently feeling :), praying instead of worrying, paperwork instead of not doing paperwork, and hanging out with friends instead of dishes. Oh and celebrating my birthday which always feels a little anti-climactic as an adult, kind-of like perseverance.
Are there areas in your life you are persevering?
What helps you to do that?
