New Year- New Life

I like new things.  My Dad took my sister and I to the mall, I may have been 10, and he wanted to buy us a new outfit.  We left the mall wearing the new outfit, new shoes, new socks and yes- even new underwear (don't think that we left wearing those...).  It was like it was his chance to make us new and clean- all perfect.  And I felt like a million dollars- except it was JC Penney's so in reality it was more like $30.

It is a new year- I crave the potential to change.  And something about the date January 1 makes us all think we have it.

Potential to change.

But here's what I love, what blows my mind if I think too hard about it.... our God doesn't give us potential to change, if He is in us...

He promises change.

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.  Philippians 1:6

And if I am not changing I would have to be interfering- stopping the change.  The prayer is not- "Change me God."  The prayer is, "Stop me from getting in Your way."

A little like my Dad, He is a God who makes things new, eventually planets but especially people.  And I want desperately to stay out of His way.

So God please help me stay out of Your way this year.

Oh and welcome to my new site- yay!
